Wart Removal
Warts are noncancerous growths on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear on any part of the body and vary in size and appearance. Warts are common and can affect people of all ages, although they are more prevalent in children and young adults.
HPV enters the body through small cuts or breaks in the skin, leading to the development of warts. Warts can spread through direct contact or by touching surfaces that have come into contact with the virus.
If you suspect you have warts and would like them treated, then cryotherapy may be suitable for you.
What is a typical treatment?
We use a Cryopen, a medical device that uses controlled sprays of nitrous oxide gas to freeze the wart. This causes the cells in the wart to die and over the coming days the wart will scab and naturally fall off. Warts can require several cryotherapy treatments before they disappear. Your clinician will discuss this with you at your appointment.
